Colloquial View of the Signs on Aquarius during Times of Change
Why didn’t anyone listen to what Aquarius had been saying for so long—that they felt limited and would explode sooner or later? Because the other 11 signs were too busy trying to understand their ruling planet.
Let’s take a colloquial look at how the signs view Aquarius:
Aries
Aries already has enough to deal with carrying Mars, or rather following it—an energetic problem that they live with for life unless they submit to it.
Being plugged into the source of energy leaves you with no choice but to understand it and adapt. From the moment Aries is born until the moment they die, they never stop and cannot stop. They are possessed from the moment they wake up until they go to sleep by so much energy that it takes almost their entire life to find daily mechanisms to release such a daily dose of propulsion.
By the middle of their existence, Aries has tried everything at their disposal to find daily peace, a difficult task given that they are fire and are pleased by burning passion. If they have managed not to destroy themselves along the way, they have already achieved a lot, or almost everything, in this life. On their journey, they have learned that there is no worse enemy than being still, inert, blocked, and not exercising the movement required of them.
Its planet Mars is a fast-moving one, one of those personal planets that completes its transit of the natal chart in 2 years, causing Aries to enter continuous cycles of energetic self-analysis. The faster a planet moves through one’s chart, the shorter the time to understand oneself because, as soon as you let your guard down, you’re back to repeating the cycle.
Aries already has enough to deal with and is not at all interested in the collective human spirit concept of Aquarius, a scenario that is too complex and requires a lot of time to manifest. The wonderful utopian Aquarian worlds yes, and although Aries is an active sign, even if he understands it, he cannot follow it. However, if Aries sees that Aquarius is right in their demands for a more equal world and something happens that prevents him from releasing his energies daily, he will not hesitate to activate himself against anyone he believes is responsible.
Without Aries, there would be no necessary drive, no primary energetic spark to mobilize, and thank the Cosmos for creating it.
Taurus
Taurus will not do anything against their ruling planet Venus, which represents harmony, and even less will they allow Uranus to dismantle the Venusian paradise they have worked so hard to build.
Their task is to avoid excess in aesthetics, materialism, accumulation, and not placing too much importance on beauty and pleasure. Their challenge is finding the middle ground of Venus—the Venus that is neither exaggerated nor degraded on a material plane.
Self-gratification is their main lesson, and beyond that, they couldn’t care less about the perfect mental world of Aquarius; it’s intangible and they cannot touch it. Taurus has learned that their body is material, that it needs care, and that accumulating possessions is fine and satisfying, but above all, what they need is balance, without which they fall into the extremes of Venusian energy.
Venus completes a cycle around the natal chart every 583 days, so Taurus has limited time to understand their bodily relationship to the material world around them. The tactile and tangible require skill and control for mastery, and that’s where they focus their attention, while the worlds beyond, what comes next, or any kind of dreamlike fantasy elude them.
What will move Taurus is material scarcity and the lack of harmony in their environment. If what Aquarius has been saying for years—that the world needs substantial changes—finally happens, and we suddenly enter a generalized collapse with food shortages and widespread clamor, Taurus will be the first to support Aquarius.
Taurus knows very well the value of things, the effort required to build a material world, and they would never let the world collapse. Instead, they would help change it. “If there’s no other way, here I am. Lean on me, for I am as solid as a mountain.
Gemini
Gemini and Aquarius are siblings, both being air signs and sharing the connection of Uranus as the 8th higher planet of Mercury, the ruling planet of Gemini.
They resemble each other greatly in their rational capacity and understanding of the world. Gemini analyzes with a 360-degree submarine radar everything that makes up the reality around them, from one extreme to another, and Aquarius does the same from a human perspective, with a focus on the collective and its differences. And they always approach it with a creative mindset.
The biggest difference between these two signs is that Aquarius only obeys its higher communication channel, its visions of the future, and has no interest in controlling mundane reality, something Gemini needs.
They both idolize each other. Aquarius believes that Gemini is a master of the environment, which they are, and therefore elevates them; Gemini, on the other hand, doesn’t understand how Aquarius, so absorbed in their visions, can be so rational and critical, and ends up surrendering to something they don’t understand.
Gemini hasn’t realized all this time that Aquarius was right. They were so obsessed with breaking down daily reality that they barely had the capacity to see beyond, into the future, as Aquarius does. And they applied that classic Gemini axiom of “let me know in two months if something’s going to happen” because they were so busy analyzing what Mercury was asking them to do.
Mercury, their planet, goes through cycles every 115 days, and every 115 days the information they receive from the outside world is renewed, so they have a lot of work breaking down reality in an exhausting process that leaves them little time for anything else.
Gemini will support Aquarius in its attempt to change whatever is rotten, whatever is interfering with their need for communication and daily interactions with their surroundings, two basic needs for the great communicator.
Cancer
Cancer is the Moon, and we’ve already seen how fast the Moon’s cycle is and the need for Cancer to find security somewhere amidst the constant rotation of the Moon. The Moon moves so quickly through its cycles that it’s like when you get dizzy—you need to hold onto something, or you’ll fall. Cancer holds onto their home, family, and anything that provides emotional security.
The relationship between Cancer and Aquarius is not an easy one —one needs security, and the other needs changes in the conventional. However, Aquarius is a child of the Cosmos, feeling uprooted, lost like a child without their parents, so it sees in Cancer the nurturer, someone who takes care of themselves and others, someone reliable and warm who can provide emotional protection. Cancer feels something similar; they see in Aquarius someone so capable of making friends with everyone, someone with such an open and vulnerable vision that they’re immediately captivated.
The crab sign will never support any movement of revolt or abrupt change unless its lunar life is threatened. The moment something threatens the lunar environment of the crab, you can be sure they will use their pincers, cry out, and demand relentlessly from the systems and the world for the safety of their loved ones.
Leo
Leo and Aquarius are natural opposites, and thus they have much in common as they occupy a whole developmental axis: the axis of relationships with oneself and with others. Leo is a leader in itself who attracts others, while Aquarius attracts others in a friendly manner and becomes a leader. Both need to relate to others to measure themselves, as without that, they cannot find their individuality.
Leo is drawn to self-fulfillment, achieving their goals, being the source that emanates, and on their life path, they will find that Aquarius brings everything they need: various people and heterodox groups. On the other hand, Aquarius understands the greatness of shining, knows and enjoys the differences that distinguish humans, and of course, Leo stands out. The relationship works unless Leo is unable to take the place they need, which can happen if Aquarius becomes too visionary, too rigid in their need for change.
Leo’s planetary ruler is the Sun, which completes one cycle around the natal chart every year, a very fast rhythm compared to Uranus, which takes 84 years to transit, leaving Leo with little time for self-realization annually.
There is no sign more noble than that of the lion, so it is capable of giving everything in a moment of need. In times of trouble, Leo will lead and unleash their infinite energy to join the rest of the team. It will be difficult because they must be completely convinced from within, as a fixed sign, stubborn and inflexible.
Virgo
Virgo, like Gemini, is ruled by Mercury, a neutral and analytical planet that requires constant attention since it completes its cycle in just 115 days. While Mercury in Gemini is mental, Mercury in Virgo is material, so Virgos are obligated to have physical control over their bodies and how they move through the world daily. This is their work—programming daily, weekly how their corporeal form navigates through creation.
This sign is magical because it has the ability to connect with its inner voice, doing so through the repetition of its planned actions. Virgo has been so organized for so many years that it can detect when something it has planned won’t go as expected. It feels it from within, “This appointment will get canceled.” That’s why it’s the sign of inner truth. In this, Virgo and Aquarius are alike; both try to connect with a vision, the inner one (Virgo) and the external one (Aquarius).
The relationship between Virgo and Aquarius is based on the mutual contribution of tools for daily functionality. Virgo gives Aquarius the daily impulse to act and its Mercury connected with others, and Aquarius gives Virgo the creativity that Virgo lacks. It’s not that Virgo doesn’t know how to create, it’s that it constantly creates order without stopping, needing this order as much as it needs food. If Aquarius or another sign disrupts Virgo’s rhythm of order, Virgo will rebel, and if Virgo demands too much material, organized control from Aquarius, Aquarius will do the same.
In Virgo’s daily need to organize its life, it rejects any energy that takes it away from this. If it has to manifest or go to war, Virgo first organizes itself and then continues organizing—there is no other way. Virgo can organize everyone else, but it will not lead or promote—that’s for others. But don’t be mistaken, this sign is more than capable of change. The virginal sign is an unrelenting seeker of inner purity, an extraordinary sniffer of “this is rotten” and “this is new light,” which places it in states of faith and optimism.
If Aquarius changes the world, Virgo will use its infallible sense to assess whether it’s worth it, and if it is, Virgo will position itself in favor of the change.
Libra
Libra is one of the most intelligent signs when it comes to interacting with others in the world, but its need for balance and harmony makes decisive actions difficult. It is forced to understand how its mind works in relation to beauty, pleasure, and social interaction, and since its planet Venus moves very quickly, every 583 days, it hardly has time for anything else.
It is fully capable, as an air sign, of projecting itself into the future and envisioning where circumstances may go, and it is very good at it. The issue lies in whether it can free itself from the false belief that it must be perfect, act perfectly, and be perfect for others—a compulsion rooted in its Venusian need for understanding, which is often excessive when it comes to giving in to aesthetic demands.
Signs understand each other through their elements, and Libra, Gemini, and Aquarius are all connected as air signs. These three signs could lead the mind of the entire planet with ease. They function as a team, and thus Libra understands the Aquarian ideals of a perfect world because if there is a sign seeking perfection, it is Libra. However, Libra is a peaceful sign oriented towards pleasure and aesthetics, and it will reject any disharmony from the outside because violence leaves it blocked, petrified. It’s not that Aquarius is violent; the Water Bearer is an integrator of others, but Aquarius has trouble accepting injustices and rebels, and that’s where Libra cannot follow.
Libra does not seek conflict; it already has enough to deal with in overcoming the fear of not being accepted. It struggles with the need to act in a balanced way in the eyes of others. Its Venus demands such a radical level of perfection that it enters a loop whenever it deviates from its ideal, and Aquarius left that tangent behind when it understood that there is no tangent.
Scorpio
Talking about the relationship between Scorpio and Aquarius is like talking about two gods who don’t understand each other, yet must act as such and coexist. An earthquake cannot understand a lightning bolt, even though both were created by nature to change things.
Scorpio, along with Aquarius and Neptune, forms the trio of different signs. They are so different that not only do other signs fail to understand them, but they also fail to understand each other. Of the three, Scorpio is undoubtedly the most complex—chosen by the universe to represent life, death, and rebirth, a concept that is too visceral and symbolic to be easily understood.
This sign is accompanied by two planets: Mars and Pluto, although its true ruler is the latter because Martian energies are inevitably integrated into all other signs. Only Pluto imprints Scorpio’s unique character.
Pluto takes 247 years to complete a full cycle through anyone’s natal chart, an amount of time too great for nervousness or impatience. Scorpio doesn’t know what it is to repeat a cycle; it has escaped the loop of self-understanding through the repetition of the same energies over and over. Its task is monumental because it has to coexist with this devastating planet, and that is more than enough. Pluto only covers one-third of the chart in anyone’s lifetime, and wherever it goes, it breaks down and transforms what it touches. So, imagine being Scorpio, condemned to live in perpetual existential transformation.
It’s no surprise that Scorpios end up redirecting Pluto’s symbolism of transformation to the other symbolic aspect of the planet: power. They can detect the energies of power in anyone, and Aquarius exudes visionary power, so Scorpio will pay attention.
Without hesitation, Scorpio will sign up for a bombardment of changes, because by middle age, nothing frightens Scorpio. Furthermore, they are in favor of self-analysis and psychological reconstruction. A global collective reorganization will always seem like a great plan to them.
Sagittarius
Sagittarius and Aquarius are the two expansive and optimistic signs of the zodiac. Their gaze is always fixed on what is to come, on how far they can reach. The centaur has his bowstring drawn, symbolizing the expansion embodied by his ruling planet, Jupiter. He will release the arrow and it will fall in a place that Sagittarius knows exists, even if he can’t see the exact spot where it will land. The Jupiterian vision leads him to investigate, to constantly learn, and of course, to be attentive to the changes that will come, so that he will be prepared when they arrive.
Every 12 years, Jupiter, his ruling planet, completes a cycle in the chart—an appropriate amount of time to look inward, to have learned and assimilated what has happened in his life during those 12 years, and to turn the page. Over the course of his life, he will confront himself 6 or 7 times by completing cycles, and by the end, he will have processed who he is, where he is going, and this will make him wiser, which is the primary characteristic of the sign—wisdom.
Sagittarius is not afraid of Aquarian changes. He is fire consuming itself and the best adventurer of all, so he will sign up for the “let’s go with these exciting changes, I’m up for that adventure.” The changes life brings will be something he leaps over, something he will pass by while galloping, never stopping while there is any fire left inside him and as long as he can learn something from it.
A Plutonian transforming world, Saturnine structures falling, the general mobilization of Aquarius, or even changes in residence—none of these things will overly hinder the centaur. On the contrary, they excite him and make him eager to see how it all resolves, which is the same as going to see where his arrow lands. He prefers to look at broader scenarios than to dive into a meticulous analysis of the moment or surroundings. Therefore, he won’t be paralyzed trying to understand those around him, but will assimilate it in seconds and leap into a global understanding of the matter.
The upcoming changes will suit him very well. It will feel like the rebirth of new energies to take advantage of.
Capricorn
Capricorn is tireless and unstoppable. It doesn’t matter if there’s a collapse and the whole planet is paralyzed, Capricorn will find new paths to set new goals and build structures. A new path is already a form of structure, so that’s good enough for them. It’s like going into a hardware store—you’re sure to find what you need. It’s a bit like ants—no matter how flooded their ant nest gets, they’ll rebuild it in three seconds, and that’s it, problem solved.
It’s similar to how Sagittarius relates to Jupiter and its cycles—Capricorn is given a sufficiently kind period of time to process its internal changes and renew its energies for another attempt. Saturn completes its cycles every 28/29 years, three times in a lifetime, so Capricorn knows very well that every 29 years they renew, and it’s time to start over. No urgency—if something needs to be built, it’s done brick by brick, calmly, and let’s do it right because there’s so much time. Also, Capricorn is the owner of the brick factory.
And yes, Saturn is time. When someone carries Saturn, they carry a clock. They know every fraction of time needed for each part of the day from when they wake up to when they go to bed. It’s as though they can only understand reality through the order of time in sequences. The shape Capricorn represents is a straight line, which is nothing but the maximization of resources with the least possible effort. I’m not exaggerating when I say that this sign is solely focused on achieving its material purpose, both reaching the end of the line and traveling along it, because both are the same—an obsession with tangible forms.
Aquarius doesn’t tolerate Capricorn because, once it’s no longer useful, it’s as though Capricorn never existed. Despite both signs having a close relationship with Saturn (time), they come at it from almost opposite angles: Capricorn uses time for the material, while Aquarius gets lost in mental time, specifically the future. And Capricorn isn’t interested in the future, as it’s grounded in the need for concreteness.
To understand Capricorn, we must know that they are working with responsibility, another symbolism of their planet Saturn—the sense of responsibility that we all inherited from our ancestors who lived through times of scarcity. “I must,” “I should” are expressions of a mind dominated by Saturn, the complete opposite of a happy hippie. They have to learn to let go, to flow in material insecurity as Sagittarius, Aquarius, or Pisces do, but of course, ask these signs for a sense of responsibility, and let’s see what happens. The conclusion is always the same: the middle ground.
It’s clear that civilizations could never have been built without the creation of the Capricornian figure. All of us have a bit of Capricorn in us somewhere, and the universe itself has a lot of Capricorn—constantly redesigning itself but also using mechanisms like black holes to eliminate forms that are no longer useful.
Therefore, it could be suspected that Pluto’s destructive moments and Aquarius’s changes are very beneficial for Capricorn. From there, Capricorn can begin again, rebuilding.
Pisces
Pisces works on being able to live with their emotions, and depending on whether they have assimilated these emotions or not, they can lead a conventional life—something that Pisces greatly desires. It belongs to those three transpersonal signs that embody cosmic generational energies, so Pisces knows that understanding themselves is enough. No one can see or touch their emotions, no one can feel them but the person themselves, so they put all their effort into that. Their gift is living a fully integrated life.
Neptune is the ruler of this sign and takes 164 years to complete its cycle, so Pisces is not in a hurry—or rather, they don’t know what urgency is when it comes to understanding themselves by renewing cycles. Their urgency, as mentioned, is to understand their emotions. Their destiny in life is to carry Neptune as best as possible because, if not, Neptune expresses confusion, both in their own life and as a tool for the cosmos to paralyze any situation or civilization.
Pisces is capable of everything; they are multifunctional, overflowing with integrative emotional capacity, and have an unparalleled vision of the past and present. The need to calm their emotions requires deep analysis to forgive and accept the past and attention to the present to incorporate the new emotions that manifest. As the last sign, they somehow carry all the other signs within themselves, which grants them total adaptability to their environment. They lack a vision of the future, and this is understandable because the future does not exist emotionally, so it is not pertinent to them. Their relationship with Aquarius can provide that added element of social integration and vision to lift them out of all that latent emotion.
Pisces represents dreams and ideals, and like Aquarius, they are utopian in this sense—they live for their vision. They will support any movement for human rights that aims to make people happier, even if that means facing a flood of new emotions.
